We are looking for a Scientific Research Assistant in the Biological Hazard and Animal Health and Welfare Unit.


  • extracting, monitoring and surveillance data submitted by external stakeholders to the Unit; 

  • presenting data in figures & tables;

  • performing a descriptive statistical analysis (using the software package R);

  • writing summaries of the results and the statistical analysis;

  • writing meeting minutes; 

  • supporting editorial formatting of the scientific outputs;

  • contributing to timely and effective planning to meet priorities and deadlines within the work programme of the Unit.


  • Excellent knowledge of English (at least C1 level)

  • Master's degree in Animal Health, Epidemiology or related areas;

  • At least 1 year of relevant working experience in collecting and collating evidence, writing and reviewing scientific documents, analyzing and interpreting data with statistics;

  • Excellent use of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel;

  • Knowledge of R software would be considered an asset;  

  • Working with others, analysis and problem solving, drive for results, good level of autonomy.

Assignment: initial contract of 2 months, with possibility of extension. Expected duration of assignment 6 months. 

Salary: approx. €2027 per month before taxes. 

Work modalities: office work is required on at least 2 days per week. Remote work is possible within 2 hours from Parma, Italy for the remaining days.
